Dell XPS 8700 upgrade

Well as you can tell, I have a Dell product but I wanted to replace the graphics card that it came with, these are the specs:

i7 4770 3.4Ghz
16GB of RAM
GTX 660 1.5gb
and a 650W PSU (I upgraded the PSU, the system had a 450W one, but if I have to, I'll upgrade to a better one)

But I wanted to replace the GPU, like the 780 from EVGA or the 770 from MSI, but my question is, will everything work? The system doesn't have an extreme Mobo but is not bad, and I read in some websites that a bad mobo can affect the performace of the components like GPU so I wanted to make sure that the 770/780 could work perfectly fine with my PC with good performance.
This is the motherboard: Dell Inc. 0KWVT8 A01, I don't really know much about motherboards so I thought I'd ask here, in advace, thanks for the help!

It's 100% cool. Even my XPS 8100 running p56 chipset is only just now bottlenecking a 7990.

From what I can tell, that computer is in a mini atx case. The only thing you would need to look out for is to make sure whatever graphics card you pick will fit in the case. But you should be able to put whatever graphics card will fit the case since you have enough power to run most everything.

Provided your new PSU has the right power connectors for the new GPU's then either a 770 or a 780 will run great. Double check that the EVGA power requirements (specifically amps on the +12v rail) are satisfied by your PSU.

Either of those cards should be a nice replacement for a 660.

True! Totally forgot that. I've bought a full tower to chuck my 8100's guts into. Unless they've redesigned the case the HDD cage keeps videocards longer than a reference 760 or so out. My iceqx2 270x wouldn't fit by a lot. Look for the ASUS mini ITX series if you want to know they fit, otherwise expect a lot of measuring.

First of all, thanks for the help! I got like 4 responses in 5 minutes or so, anyways, I already measure the size of case and the graphics card and it fits perfectly fine, once again, thanks! You all answer my questions

Who makes the motherboard for the XPS 8700, and what is the quality of it? The best boards have solid capacitors, which I doubt you'll get in a Dell.

Thank you, but this tells you nothing about the mfr. or quality of the board. Dell seems purposely to give a number for the board that tells you nothing. In the case of the XPS8700, as your link shows and I already knew, it is only labelled with a number: 0kwvt8.

They are of at least average quality. Mine lasted 4 years before I voluntarily replaced it. The CPU will be too slow by the time the mobo conks out most of the time.
