My 2018 Dell XPS laptop started making a zipping noise. It was charging and also felt a bit hot. I suspect a fan issue. I had to do a hard shutdown to get it to power off and it stopped. While using it this morning, it has started again for just a few minutes and then stopped. It still feels warmer than usual. Thoughts? Should I just replace the fan?

"zipping noise" - perhaps sparking noises inside the laptop?
And getting hotter than usual.
Likely electrical and involves the battery and/or charger. Or some sort of intermittent short circuit.
May end badly. Is all data backed up?
My recommendation is to find a knowledgeable shop to take a look inside.
