A few mornings ago my computer wouldn't power up. I noticed the electrical fault light was red on my APC surge protector so I moved the PC to another outlet. Nothing.
Opening the case, I noticed there was an amber light glowing on the motherboard, so I unplugged the system and removed the video card. Nothing.
Through all this the light on the switch never lit up.
I replaced the power supply with a known good power supply. Nothing.
I unplugged the system and held down the power switch for 30 seconds. Nothing.
All roads point to either a failed motherboard or a bad power switch. I haven't yet tried to jump pins because I'm not comfortable doing that to test for a bad switch, so I took the system down to a PC repair guy who will dive into this deeper on Monday.
I think it's the motherboard. Thoughts?
