Dell XPS, Win 7 Ultimate downgrade memory question

I bought a Dell XPS 8700 I5, with 12gb ram. It had a hard drive with Win 8.1. I changed the hard drive and installed Win7 Ultimate 32 bit, now only shows 3.47 usable. Is there a way to get it to see the 12 gb or do I need to go back to Win 8.1?

for 12gb of ram you need to install a 64bit OS. A 32 bit OS can only reference 4gb of ram including whats on your devices. (so dont go sticking in a 4gb video card in there just yet)
