Dell's Windows OEM version works on all Dell Systems?

Well this question arises from when I'd lost my Dell inspiron's OEM Windows Vista DVD and the support staff asked me to install Windows from another Dell user. Does this work? Would the this installation get deactivated?

If they suggested it, it has to be well worth a try. If it fails to activate, go through the telephone procedure and tell the adviser the Product Key from your Certificate of Authenticity from the case of your Dell.

A dell oem vista install disc that matches the os on another dell will work and activate.
