Hey I downloaded a ISO of windows 7 to do a clean install to get rid of viruses, everything was fine I used Produkey to verify the product ID and windows key for the laptop. So I do the setup and enter the key and it says not a genuine copy of windows. We had it taken to a computer place down the street from us and they got rid of a virus on it and sent it back. Is it possible they stole the key on the computer and put a different one from another onto it? Note this that the computer didn't say that before the installation process only after I completed the fresh install. Oh and it said OEM on the product ID if that means anything. Thanks

I will check to see if the sticker is there but I don't think I seen it. Is it on the battery or under the battery on the laptop also this is a old laptop like 3 to 4 years old.

dell and hp there oem numbers are flashed into the bios. that why they use a restore partion on the drive. see if the store left that partion on the drive and see if you can do a system restore from it. if not contact the vendor or look on ebay for a set of restore disk.
