So while I was uninstalling my CPU cooler, I noticed that there was a tiny dent in this thing on my motherboard, that kind of looks like a puncture. It's hard to describe.

Is it fine, or do I have a problem?

It would bulge and / or leak and your board would exhibit other signs of failure

The fact that it's not a cheap board actually works in your favour here as...
I believe it is superficial damage. Would superficial damage actually affect lifespan or performance?

And suppose there is a microscopic puncture. (1% chance that there is, and even so, its size would be in the micrometers). What would happen then?

It won't affect performance until the capacitor starts to fail. I wouldn't worry if I were you

How would I know if the capacitor starts to fail, and is it likely to happen? I'm concerned about the lifespan of my MOBO as it's not cheap (Maximus VII Hero) and I want it to function properly for as long as posssible.

The fact that it's not a cheap board actually works in your favour here as you've likely got solid state caps on that board and they can take a lot more punishment than cheapo ones. I'm looking at your pic again and it really does look quite superficial

Thanks bro for your answers. I really appreciate it. :)

Yea, if it was one of those old motherboards with the crap capacitors, then that could be a problem in a few years, but that's really something that if caused any damage, you will probably never notice or at least not before you buy another mobo in a few years.
