Designare Z270X BIOS Update failure

So in light of the recent spectre issue I attempted to update my BIOS using Q-Flash. I downloaded the BIOS update file F5d opened the archive and put the file on a freshly formatted USB plugged directly into the Motherboard. Upon opening Q-Flash and selecting the file, It is recognised and allows me to click 'intact installation' it then attempts to install and immediately says that it failed. I have tried different USBs', re downloading the file from different servers and even clearing CMOS but the issue is still here.

I suggest using the efi flash tool instead of Q-Flash. You need to boot into DOS, you can use the HP tool:

or Rufus as the flash is done in this guide. Substitute you mobo info into the guide.
