I have yet to find a chair of a quality level that is "fine" after 4 years. What kind of chair are YOU using?
This one, in black/grey, bought June 2016.

Minor cosmetic issues:
Extreme front corner on the right armrest is starting to split.
Outer covering on the left buttcheek/thigh area padding starting to wear away.
Left shoulder hole - covering has come out of the plastic retainer a little bit.
Replaced the original wheels with rollerblade style, simply for easier rolling.

Other than that, it feels no different from new.
It’s a chair. Just get any decent office chair and avoid the gaming BS ones that are all the same, all made cheaply AF and all just not worth the money.

I also have in mind to find a FAR better chair than a "gaming" version off Amazon, or ones available at the BBS. I know there are various and expensive brands out there but would love to find a chair in and around that budget that was comfortable and ergonomic for 8-10 hours of use (work/play) a day.

I would just advise if your a large person to check the weight limit on chairs. At 6'2" at 255 lbs I've gone through more then a few office chairs rated for 300 lbs but with leaning back sometimes I've ruined the bracket because they use plywood connected to a metal bracket. If you live near a store such as Microcenter that's still open I'd recommend checking them out in person if possible.

Be wary of the microfiber 'executive' things from OfficeMax. I had one before the DX, felt great. Large thing, basically 1/2 a couch.
Very comfortable.

After a couple of days, I noticed a funk.
Outgassing some chemical.
I thought it might be me and my nose, but no...everyone who sat in it commented on that after 15 minutes or so.

Out it went.

In my own chair(s) experiences I have purchased everything from the lowest priced cheapos all the way up to the "best" thing that places like Office Max offer.

Common failures are things like the upholstery, the ram starts leaking, arms loose or break, etc. Within the last few years the biggest fail point issue I have had is the metal reinforcement under the seat tears, yes tears and caused the seat to fail as a whole.
The last seat I bought was the Serta office chair, I cannot recall the model, but it (supposedly) came with a lifetime warranty both on the leather as well as the build of the chair. First one cracked on the bottom and the leather came apart. I had zero issue having it replaced. The second one did the same thing (about two years total both chairs) and they refuse to warranty this one since it's the replacement.
