I recently moved my computer desk into a different location and now I am trying to decide where I would like to place my towers.

I had an idea that maybe with some long cables I could have my desk be in one location with my mouse, keyboard, monitor, headset, ect. and my computer tower in a different part of the room. I wanted to do this so I could offer better ventilation for my PC, give me easier access to it so if I need to work on it, its easy, and also to have my computer not be just something in the way for the room.

I measured out the room and if I went a direct route I would need 20 ft cables but I would rather run the cables along the floor board to keep them more hidden and that means I would need about 30 ft cables.

The cables I would need to run:
USB (3.0 isn't important but I would prefer)
Displayport (1440p 144hz monitor)
HDMI
DVI
3.5mm audio

Can these cables run 20-30ft?
Can they run that length with no performance loss?

I game and stream on my machine with a two PC setup, so keeping the quality the same is very important to me. If I can't make these cables work at these distances with no loss of quality then it isn't worth it to me.

Thanks for reading!

So mostly what I am finding from researching around is that the biggest problem will be the DP only monitor. There are 20ft+ DP cables but there seems to be quite a bit of degradation for the signal and achieving 1440p @ 144hz doesn't seem feasible. Some claim to have made 4k@60hz work though so it might work.

Or I could try going DVI/HDMI to DP but the converters I have found don't support 1440p144hz so yet again I am out of luck.

If anyone has any other solutions I am still researching!

Well after reading that though it looks like I can easily extend the lengths of a usb cable either using a hub or active cable.

Still trying to find a solution for my displayport monitor though. If anyone knows any DP cables that are 20 ft long and support 1440p 144hz please share.
