Have a windows 7 desktop that finds my wifi network, I enter the correct password, and says "Windows was unable to connect to network name". Brought tower to best buy and they connected fine. Have successfully connected other iphones, iPads, other laptops to network.

Solution
What are the wireless settings at home? By that I mean security type, encryption, and bands.

Ideally, it should be set to:

Wireless Security = WPA2
Encryption = AES
Mode: Wireless N only

If you have a dual band router, you need to do the settings on both frequencies, or at least the one you want your desktop to use.

This answer might be overkill but here goes!
Radio Selection: 2.4 GHz Radio
WIFI Operation: On
Mode: B/G/N
Bandwidth: 20 MHz
Channel: Auto
Power Level: 100
Home SSID Enable: On
Hide Net Name: Off
Security: WPA-Default Password
WPA version: Both
WIFI Protection setup (WPS): On

The Wireless Network Connection says it is:
Signal Strength: Excellent
Security Type: WPA2-PSK
Radio Type: 802.11n

Temporarily turn off the encryption on the router using an ethernet cable or another machine. Try to connect the PC to the wifi. If the PC does connect, go to the router's setup and copy the wifi password, if it is visible, then paste that into notepad. Or if it is not visible, type it into notepad and paste it into the router setup. Reset the encryption and try again on the PC, this time pasting the password from notepad.

If the PC doesn't connect while the encryption is off, you then have a greater focus on the problem.
