Desktop computer turns off few seconds after booting

Hello,I've been using my desktop computer pentium 4 Gigabite motheroarn for quite some times for video editing.Suddenly there was a black out .My computer was forced to shutdown.When I on the generator,I booted the computer but It continously turns off in less than five seconds after its been turned on.Pls what might be the fault

Depending on the quality of the generator, it is never a good idea to run delicate electronic equipment off generator power. Spikes and power surges are notorious problems with generators. Does this also happen when on normal power?
