Desktop for 3D rendering

Hello everyone,
I'm a student majoring in architecture, and I want to upgrade my former laptop to a desktop, for using 3D programs like Archicad, Revit, 3D Max and others, while also using renderers like Indigo, V-ray, Mental Ray etc.

Proposed desktop:
Case: Cooler Master Storm Stryker;
PSU: Corsair TX650V2 Enthusiast Series 650W TX ATX/EPS 80 PLUS Bronze ;
Motherboard: Asus P9X79;
CPU: Intel,I7 3820, 3.60GHz;
CPU cooler: Noctua D14;
RAM: G-skill Ripjaws Z 16gb, 2133MHz;
Graphic card: EVGA GeForce GTX670 ( I know that Quadro's graphic cards are dedicated for rendering, but they are way too expensive);
HDD1: Samsung 840, 256GB, SSD;
HDD2: Seagate 2TB;

Any kind of help or opinions would be very appreciated.

Yes, quadro cards can get expensive, but they are very much optimized for what you need. That said, you have a very solid setup there. It would be a great gaming machine...only mediocre workstation. If you were to get a quadro card (even a cheaper quadro) you would have a good workstation and a mediocre gamer. Regardless, that setup will get the job done...just maybe not as fast as you would like.

I'd recommend the Barracuda XT (5 year warranty) over the Barracuda (no XT) w/ 2 year warranty

I'd look for a670 with at least an 8 phase VRM, the more phases, generally the better they OC.
