Trying to assemble a micro-ATX form factor PC for video editing (kdenlive/openshots) and image processing (Gimp/Rawtherapee) in Linux.
While I've been using Linux since 2007, I'm a noob to the DIY PC assembling, so please go easy on me.
Budget is around 500-550 USD
I made a quick check to see if the following are Linux/ubuntu compatible and they appear to be good.
Computer Case: Rosewill R379-M Black/ Silver 0.8mm SGCC Steel Slim MicroATX: Computer Case with ATX12V Flex 300W Power Supply
Motherboard: ASUS M4A88TD-M/USB3 AM3 AMD 880G HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor HDT90ZFBGRBOX
Graphics Card: Galaxy 43GGS8HX3SPZ GeForce GT 430 (Fermi) 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card
Memory: G.SKILL NS 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-4GBNS
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Optical Drive: LITE-ON Black IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model iHDP118-04 or ASUS Black IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model DVD-E818A4/BLK/B/GEN
Network Card: Rosewill RNX-N300 IEEE 802.11b/g/n Wireless-N 2.0 PCI (1T2R)
Question 1:
Per the Graphics Card (Galaxy 43GGS8HX3SPZ GeForce GT 430) System Requirements, the minimum power required is 300W which is what the built-in power supply (of the computer case) has. Will that be enough for the whole system ? Or will i end up underpowered ? If the built-in PSU is not enough, what should be the wattage i should be getting ? Any recommendations ?
Question 2:
Pardon my ignorance here, are the above components an over-kill for a micr-atx slim case? I'm worried about overheating/too much noise.
Please let me know if there are some more things i've to consider.
Thanks,
Raj
