So I have this problem a while now...
When I try to access the Desktop (copying, moving a file from/to it or even clicking on a folder/shortcut) it just doesn't respond for a few seconds (5 to 10) and after that it snaps back to normal... No popups like "explorer.exe not responding" or anything like that.

While the Desktop is frozen I can still access other already open windows or folders but i can't even click on anything on the Desktop!
It also seems to only happen the first time I try to access it after boot, even after browsing for some time on chrome (opened from the metro) and then trying to open something from Desktop

I run my OS, Windows 8.1 on an SSD (ADATA SP900) and my files and most of my programs are on an HDD (WD BLUE).

make sure your mb bios is up to date and xmp profile is on for the ram and the ram speed is set right. (cpu-z). make sure the mb reads all your ram right. make sure your using matched ram and there in the right ram slots. make sure the ssd firmware is up to date and mb chipset drivers are up to date. if you have an older z77 mb make sure the ssd and hard drive are on intel or amd sata ports not 3 party ports. in the bios make sure sata set to achi and not raid.
run hd tune see if any of the drives have an issue. (try pulling the data cable off your data drive and see if the ssd works fine).

ram xmp profile and speed are set.
mb reeds the 2 identical sticks just fine.
sata is set to achi in the bios and the drive is in the right slot.
I'm now downloading the latest firmware for the ssd and driver for the chipset.
Do you think it's a ram problem? Because the ssd is almost brand new.
