I have a synology rt1900ac router connected to my desktop (and obviously wireless devices connecting to the router). However, when accessing the router control panel from my desktop, even though my desktop can connect to the internet, it won't let me access the settings from the router, nor access the router login page (192.168.1.1).

I can however access the router login page/settings from a wireless device.

What's going on here? Any settings i need to change?

Kind Regards

Debbie

yes if you have the ISP modem/router combo configured with Wi-Fi off, you can connect the rt1900ac on it but because you turned off the Wi-Fi off on it doesn't mean the routing processes are disabled and there fore you cannot connect your router to it unless you set it into Wi-Fi AP MODE and you connect regular rj45 from ISP modem into the wan port or port 1-4

I know this is not your system below, it is mine... but yours should be connected this way

Am gonna give you my standard (my wager) reply:

You have:

ISP Gateway ---(subnet 1)---desktop---(WAN)RT190---(subnet 2)--->

One way to fix is, move desktop to subnet 2:

ISP Gateway ---(subnet 1)---(WAN)RT190(LAN)---(subnet 2)---Desktop--->

Another way to fix is, reconfigure RT190 as Access Point only, then you will have one flat subnet and everybody is happy.

Is there any personal identifying information I need to remove, or is it all OK? Also - I really appreciate all your help :)

I have a modem router which was supplied by the ISP. I disabled the 'WiFi' function on the modem router, so technically the 'modem router' supplied by the ISP acts as the 'modem' and my rt1900ac acts as the 'router'.

Maybe something I haven't changed on the 'modem router'?

The ethernet cable is going directly from my computer to the ISP 'modem/router'. I thought you had to plug in the computer to the modem?

So should I connect it to the RT1900AC?

Thanks!!
