desktop hdmi video splitter for monitor and tv

I am trying to use a hdmi splitter to access my desktop monitor and tv at the same time but the tv is not receiving the signal. The splitter indicator lights only show a signal going to the monitor. What is the possible problem/solution.

I would expect that your computer monitor would be running at a different resolution than your TV. The splitter would not change the required signals and only proper device would sync. In your case your monitor.

Your options will on what graphics card or cards you have in your machine. HDMI signals also include signal protection to prevent the device from talking to unauthorized devices. (various issues with that pop up)
