Since moving into our new house my Desktop Internet has become essentially dial up levels of speed and I also noticed the internet in general slows down when my Desktop is using internet.

I had initially though it was a virus issue so I used various different software to try and get rid of the problem after having no success I decided to do a clean install of my C: Drive (I have other Internal drives fyi) but even then the problem still exists. My desktop cannot use wireless so therefore I use an Ethernet cable and I also know the cable works fine as I connected it to my laptop and the speed was very fast. So in other words I am at a complete loss at what to do some help would be much appreciated.

Also as a heads up when it comes to Networking I am fairly inexperienced so some extra details may be needed to explain solutions to me.

Yes I do have Bluetooth devices but since my clean install I have not bothered using/installing said devices

Telstra, yeah I know how frustrating they can be but they have been working for us so far

Technicolor TG587n Home Network Gateway

I am unsure of this question as I explained before my desktop cannot use wireless so therefore I use an ethernet cable instead, unless there is something I missed?

Windows 7

I should mention I did some digging through forums and such and found out my Ipv6 has "no internet access" I believe that is the problem at this point I am still trying to find a solution. If you have one it would be much obliged.

make sure your Ethernet device settings are using ipv4. make sure the ip is set to automatic and dns is set to automatic.

I am certain Ipv4 is being used as ipv6 cannot access my internet and both have the IP and DNS set to automatic but is there a way for me to check to be certain?

I tried it before and nothing changed but just in case I tried it again and still nothing happened 🙁

also this may be random but do I need to ipv6 to have my internet back to fast speeds? I'm only asking because I think ipv6 would help in the area I am currently living in.
