Windows 7 - I have a folder that is in my Desktop. With Explorer I can see the folder and access it. However it has disappeared from my desktop. It just does not show up. It is not hidden and it used to be there now it is gone.

Solution
Alternatively, create a new user on your PC and copy the folder to the new users desktop via explorer from your profile/useraccount.. then log into the new profile and confirm you can see it on the desktop.. if you can(assuming this new profile is an admin), dump it back on your primary/original profile desktop via explorer and then log out of the new profile and log into your primary profile and it should be there.

Otherwise, shit's crazy yo!
My guess is that you had a shortcut, and somehow deleted the shortcut.
Was it actually on your desktop, or was it just a shortcut on your desktop? If you want the folder to actually reside on your desktop, just drag onto your desktop. If you want a shortcut just recreate the shortcut.

Good guess but no joy - It wasn't a shortcut. I tried to drag from explore onto desktop but it says "The destination folder is the same as the source folder". So it is on the desktop (somehow) but I just cannot see it.

Do you have more than one monitor?
Can you see every other item/icon on your desktop just fine?

Try going to your C:\Users\YOURPROFILE\Desktop and copying the folder/file to somewhere else and once you're satisfied you're not insane, copy it back.. or better yet, do a test and create a notepad on your desktop, just to confirm you can see new/updated content.
