Ok, I just picked up this acer aspire x1430g desktop with windows 7 home premium off the side of the road. I got it working again and obviously i don't have the password so i was gonna go in through the safe mode back door to do a factory reset but when I go to the Advanced boot menu via F8, the only two options listed are "Start windows normally" and "Run startup repair (recommended)". I can't seem to find a solution to this anywhere, any help would be appreciated.

Off the side of the road, some people were moving out and they were throwing it in the garbage, i asked them if i could have it and they said yes it didn't work, psu was blown.

I have picked up lots of puters on the side of the road. On garbage day, that's where peeps leave them.

As for the OP, if we give you the benefit of the doubt, my recommendation would be to contact Acer and explain your dilemma.

1. If lost, or just dumped on side of road by someone who stole it but couldn't get it working. They will contact the Owner and try and get it returned to him / her.

2. Once determined "abandoned", I see no reason why they wouldn't help you

I'm not going to the trouble of doing that, it's not worth my time, I'm not asking how to crack the pc or anything like that, I'm just trying to figure out why safe mode is not listed. simple question.

believe me, if it was stolen I would have just said it was my pc from the beginning and that i was just having problems with it so as not to enable all the "it might be stolen and blah blah" comments

I have done it. I called gateway and they said the machine had failed, they troubleshot it and sent out a new one under warranty replacement to the owner, concluding that I was welcome to salvage any parts or even the whole PC as it would cost more to ship it back and return it after fixing than it would cost to send out a new one. They provided instructions and web url for drivers. I got two free machines this way which I gave away to local kids. Cost me about 4 minutes.
