I have my tv coonected to my Windows 10 Pro pc, for watching movies and tv. It isn't on all the time, but when its turned off, my main display acts like the extended display, with just the background and no desktop. As soon as the tv is turned on, my desktop appears. My graphics card is a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1650 Super running the latest Nvidia drivers, 536.40.

I would first try and see if using DDU to remove all your GPU drivers, then manually reinstalling with the latest driver sourced from Nvidia in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator, helps alleviate the issue.

Hi

Yeah I've tried all of that. I even switched my monitor to the onboard intel hdmi port, and it made no difference either. The only way I can get it to work properly, is to disconnect the cable to the tv.
