[SOLVED] Desktop not powering up

Hello,

I just came to my custom desktop to find that it won't power on, and that the extension lead it was connected to is blown.

I've checked the computer's power switch, tested it with a working AC lead, checked that the wall sockets aren't faulty and still have no power.

Is there anything else I can do to diagnose my computer before I dive in and buy a new PSU or is that the place to go from here?

I use my computer for music production. All the USB ports are in use with a soundcard, midi keyboard, keyboard, mouse and webcam.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I just mean the IKEA four-way extension plug I use for the pc, monitor and one studio monitor looked like it didn't work. But it actually does.

What does the light indicate?
I would suspect it possibly indicates a blown breaker?
If so...I think think there's a good chance it's the PSU.

OK thank you very much. Do you recommend any particular features on a PSU or are they all generally safe bets, computer protection-wise?

I'm also not sure what the light means...it might have been out for quite some time, even before this incident. I just assumed it indicates it's on.
