Desktop not working vista

desktop starts up icons are all working select anyone it opens up go back to desktop and nothjing works can someone help please?

go tho the C: drive, then navigate to [ Program Files ] and open a program file, then open the .exe file. if that doesnt work, try a virus scan...
If all else fails, try uninstalling then reinstalling windows...
