Question Desktop screen always comes back on instead of going to sleep

Hi All,

Every time my PC tries to put the connected screen to sleep, it turns back on immediately afterwards. Interestingly, sleep works perfectly well - despite the screen having gone off and on like 5 times already by the time it reaches the sleep time-out.

This is almost certainly a hardware issue, because macOS does the exact same thing (the desktop computer is a dual-boot Windows and macOS machine).

The culprit is unlikely to be the cable or the monitor, because I tried changing those and the issue persisted. So it is most likely a GPU (Radeon RX 580) or motherboard issue I think. In Windows, sometimes one of the HDDs comes back on from sleep at the same time with the monitor erratically, so my guess would be that something on the motherboard is not set right (it is an ASUS Z370-P II).

I had to reconfigure the BIOS to work well with macOS, but nothing significant was changed really, certainly nothing that I could relate to this. It is also the latest version of the BIOS I am using.

Any ideas?
