[SOLVED] desktop short cut question

I have a lot of photos that i would like to use as a desktop picture but the best ones have detail i dont want to cover up with short cuts.
Is it possible to put short cuts on the right hand side of the screen.

BTW when i get a photo to use on desktop i load the photo into paint program and put a solid oblong when the short cuts will be.
This stops the short cuts from being hard to read as they usually blend into the detail of the photos.

unless you have auto arrange on. you can put shortcut anywhere on the desktop
