[SOLVED] Desktop shortcuts do not open web pages

Hi,

After a recent crash whilst using Microsoft Word, my desktop shortcuts (to hyperlinks) no longer open up the actual web page. Rather, it opens up a new tab in my browser with a short text file containing the address of the web page. For instance, if I click on the Guardian newspaper shortcut I get the following text file:

[InternetShortcut]
URL=https://www.theguardian.com/uk

I'm using Windows 10 Home 64-bit and my default browser is Brave. Yes, I've gone through the various settings (default apps, default type type, default protocol) to make sure they are all associated with Brave - which they are. So now I'm stuck.

Any ideas?

DANNY

Have a look to see what default programs are for websites and change to a different browser to see if this makes a difference.

Hi,
Yes, changing the default back to Edge did the trick - then I changed it back to Brave again, now with the internet shortcuts working 'normally'.
Thanks,
DANNY
