Hi
My desktop can run Wow and get up to like 80 °C, give or take, for hours at a time, as well as Crysis 2, Skyrim, TERA, and many other games.
But I've been trying to play the ESO beta and it crashes my whole computer, it reaches about 82°C and stays there for about half an hour, and then shuts off.

Here are my specs while just browsing the internet:

Can anyone help, I'm not sure what to do?

Solution
clearly it's temperature related. your computer is shutting down to protect itself. as a sidenote, AMD piledriver cpus aren't safe over 65-70C, so it's unlikely your cpu is actually hitting that 80C temp. Most likely whats happening is your motherboard (which lacks VRM heatsinks) is overheating, which is leading to the shutdowns. Piledriver cpus... particularly the 8 core types beat the heck out of poorly cooled VRMs.

To test this theory, pop the side of your case off... and stick a room fan in the opening. I'm willing to bet your shutdowns will stop happening. If this works, let me know and i'll give you a rundown of how to fix this problem... it's pretty cheap, it just requires a little work on your side.

Thanks for replying, here are more specs:
Case/Chassis Aywun A1-923 Black Colour, Full Mesh Front Panel Mid-Tower ATX case
Power Supply WideTECH 550W Power Supply, 4xSATA, 2xHDD
Processor Cooling Fan Aftermarket Silent Processor Fan/Sink Designed for AM3/AM3+ and FM2 with Higher Cooling Capacity

I've never opened the case up, as it was prebuilt, is it fairly easy to do? Or should I get someone to help?

ugh... i changed my mind. i now see 2 possible parts that are overheating. The motherboard and the PSU. lets make sure it's temps first before we start throwing out power supplies... I'm willing to bet your issue is still a temp issue... that said that power supply just sent up alarms in my head.

its deffinitly the temrature off your proccessor and the psu isn't causeing th e problem probably but its just an suggestion to but a 500w corsair or cooler master or other better know brands just to be safe.

Newegg doesn't ship to Australia, but I'm going to buy a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO CPU and see if that fixes the problem, and one day upgrade my PSU, is that a good idea?
