Whatever 1337 stuff you put in there will not "prevent" theft of the PC.
It may help track it, once the thief turns it on an allows it to connect to 'the innerwebs'

Any non-stupid thief will simply sell it, and let the recipient deal with it.
Said recipient would simply wipe the drive, and reinstall what they want

What are you actually trying to "prevent"?
Physical prevention = bolting it to the floor or similar.

So...if you build this, and your desktop gets stolen....what will you do?
Go to their house and say ''gimme back my PC"?
And get shot in the process?

Or, victimize the non-thief who bought the "pc" from 'some dude'.

Can you make some sort of ghetto LoJack thing for a desktop? Sure.
Will it 'prevent' anything? No. Once the box is gone...it is gone, son.

This is one of the few very "rare" reasons a laptop is better than a desktop lol. I don't think there's any need of a theft proof desktop, unless you live in a crime ridden place or you know some people that would try to steal your PC or something.

Maybe you should look at the bigger picture, why not protect your whole home? I'm guessing you also have a TV and other valuable items at your home, which obviously criminals will look for too. I think you should install a alarm system with a small cctv camera or two, and with that you should be fine.

agreed, once it is gone, its gone. while there are theft prevention measures, there is no foolproof way to prevent theft.

worried about your pc while you are gone? make a mini system and lock it in an immovable safe. thats about the only thing you can do to prevent damage and theft while you're away. a good pair of bolt cutters can quite easily take care of anything else you try.

Well I deleted my previous statements about this. And the Image. Don't just want the Idea I had out there, which has been somewhat successful. Thanks for your input though.
