I want to upgrade my desktop so that it can run video games (ex. FPS) smoothly. I want to change the CPU, graphics card, and heat sink. I might also change the PSU if the current PSU cannot supply enough power for the new components. Can anyone give me recommendations?

Current Computer Specifications:
CPU: AMD A4-6300 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 3.70 GHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A55M-S1
RAM: Patriot 8GB Viper 3 DDR3 PV38G186C0K
GPU: VisionTek Radeon 7750 SFF 1GB DDR3 3M (2x HDMI, miniDP) Graphics Card - 900574
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 360GB
DVD Drive: Lite-On DH-16A3L 8x DVD±RW DL SATA Drive w/LightScribe
PSU: EVGA 500 B1
Heat Sink: AMD FHSA7015S-1460 DC12V 4-Pin Socket AM3 Aluminum Cooling Fan Heat Sink
OS: Windows 8.1 Home 64-bit
Monitor: HP Pavilion w2207h 22-inch LCD

New Components:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 6 1600 3.6 GHz 6 cores
Heat Sink: AMD Wraith Spire w/out LED
GPU: AMD Radeon RX-580 8GB

Solution
you will need a am4 motherboard and cooler comes up with the 1600 ryzen cpu also ddr4 ram and windows os 10 work better with ryzen .

I might change the CPU to AMD Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6GHz. What motherboard do you recommend for that CPU? And yes, I will change to Windows 10 OS.

For the 2600x currently only choice is X470, unless you can source a Ryzen 1 chip to perform an update on the B350/X370/A320 motherboard and then put in the chip.

If you get a new mobo and CPU, you also need new DDR4 RAM for the motherboard.

If you change so much, might as well get a better PSU. That one is not very good.

EDIT: Apologies, had not seen the other poster.

Alright, I finalized everything.

CPU:AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Processor with Wraith Spire Cooler - YD260XDCAFBOX
Motherboard: MSI X470GPLUS Performance GAMING AMD X470 Ryzen 2 AM4 DDR4 Onboard Graphics CFX ATX
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Gaming Graphics Card
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz C16 Desktop Memory Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2A2400C16)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 360GB
DVD Drive: Lite-On DH-16A3L 8x DVD±RW DL SATA Drive w/LightScribe
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 B1
Heat Sink: Wraith Spire (included with Ryzen 5)
OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Monitor: HP Pavilion w2207h 22-inch LCD

All this is compatible?

Increasing wattage does not mean it is a good PSU. B1 is poor line.

You need a bigger HDD, that will fill up quick.

If you are running Ryzen, you should pair 3000 Mhz of RAM with it. Ryzen runs very well with 3000Mhz RAM.

What about this: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Desktop Memory Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15)

Does that work?

Also, I might try a SSHD. How about his one?

Seagate 2TB FireCuda Gaming SSHD (Solid State Hybrid Drive) - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Hard Drive (ST2000DX002)

That is a good RAM kit.

I do not have much experience with an SSHD. I would still recommend to stick with an SSD and a HDD for less complications. IMO SSHD are a bit gimmicky as in they are not a great compromise.
