My system:

Windows 8.1 Pro
8GB Corsair vengeance
R9 270x 4gb Twin frozr IV vcard
800w PSU
Motherboard :http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3973#ov
Intel i7 2700
250 ssd samsung
2tb WD green
1tb barraccuda

Here's my problem: whenever I try to power on my desktop sometimes my desktop turns on and displays nothing. I need to press the restart button just to successfully open my desktop.

After I open my desktop and connecting to my net using my browser (because my apartment is built in internet and needs to log in just to connect to their internet) using chrome the pop out window when I click the connect button that window should vanish, instead it hangs... sometimes it pops white screen and sometimes vertical white and black screen (very thin) AND sometimes I get a notification that AMD driver has stopped responding but it recovered...

This video card of mine is new... my old one is MSI twin frozr II OC edition and I got almost same problem... that problem is like while browsing using chrome my mouse pointer suddenly stopped working even the keyboard and I even tried ctrl-alt-del to bring task manager pop out but still no luck, so I just hard reset my desktop.

I figured that my vcard or/and my memory cards are faulty so I upgraded it to 8gb corsair and r9 270x but I still having this issue.

I tried to format my ssd and clean install windows 8.1

I have total 6 fans running in my desktop together with water coolant on my cpu and I think that maybe my psu can't handle all of my components on my desktop so I tried to pull out 2 of my side fans but still getting this problem...

I even saw a forum that maybe the thermal paste of my cpu is drying out so I changed it, still no luck...

So guys what do you think of my desktop problem? is it motherboard problem? processor? I hope not 🙁

How are your thermals during load (cpu/gpu)? Do you have some kind of overclock with all those fans and water cooling? When did the problem manifest? Was there some changes software/hardware before they manifested? How often does this happen? Daily? Weekly?

I had experienced that video driver stopped responding thing: it is a vidcard alignment/seating issue. It has to do with how my mobo is (mis)aligned or how the cases' expansion slots have warped over time. Seating it tightly with the case screw pinning it down doesn't help either - it has to be reseated like a lady, with proper attention on the alignment of its contacts.

I dont know about my thermals load but I never overclock my cpu or vcards...

This problem only occured when I tried to install cyberghost to hide my ip and install CoD (because I live here japan and they're release is later then US release)

So I figured that it might be a problem so I format my desktop and still experiencing that problem... Until now that I upgraded my vcard and RAM.

This problem occured to me whenever I turn on my desktop like 8-12hrs prior to shutdown since I'm working and whenever I got home I tend to open my desktop first.

Do you think I must resitted my vcard again?

Thank you for reply btw.

Uuuuoooo Nihongo! Gaijin? 😀

Next time you have a chance, get RealTemp to monitor your temperatures. I asked for your temps cause I think you saw some screen artifacts that is related to vidcard damage.

Installing/using an ip-spoofer shouldn't cause these kinds of hardware problems. Since the problem persists even with new hardware, I think this is your mobo's way of saying 'im dying, desu~' 🙁 How old is your system?

But still, I am not sure - these kinds of problems can be really tricky.

😀

thank you for your answer... about the temp of my system I'm pretty confident about it because I have a temp display with fan controller on it and it says 20c or something... in BIOS my cpu temp is kinda below 25c but anyway I will try that.

my system is nearly 3-4 years now... is that kind old now? since I'm using old i7-2700 and I remember after me and my friend assemble this desktop i7-2700k has been released, it was sad desu 🙁

If you use it regularly, yeah 3-4 years is pretty much aged. Microcracks start after so many powerups/downs due to thermal expansion, which affects how your pc 'acts' as it grows older lol. You did a clean reinstall of your OS, so it really points to hardware problems. You replaced vidcard+memory, so cpu+mobo+psu is suspect. CPU damage is a bit rare, cause you will cook your mobo first usually before defects appear on the cpu. Usually.

Im... not really good with PSUs, but im amazed how many help-problems threads I see here in uncle Tom's and what they immediately say is 'change your PSU'. PSU's degrade over time and from what I read on this, some manifestations of PSU problems are not booting up, freezing during heavy use, sudden restarts annnd.. system is powered on, but not posting.

So that's the remaining suspects: mobo and psu. PSU can be easy to borrow from friends, so you might test it out without buying new stuff.

edit: Here's hoping for a Merry Christmas, fellow South East Asian neighbor..

Sorry for late reply...

so the real suspect here is PSU? if so I'm currently using an unknown brand name KEIAN 800W bought here in japanese electric store...

since I'm upgrade/change my PSU I might consider the name like corsair, so I searched around the net (amazon) just to figure how much I need to buy and replace my 800W PSU and danggg... it was so expensive.

So here's my alternative:

http://

it's a coolermaster brand with 750W capacity... is it enough for my desktop?

Im really not the guy for PSUs lol, you can link this thread to another question in the PSU subforums. Again, this might be also a mobo issue..

They use the more reliable electronic parts for the PSU (longer MTBF's, higher operating temps, etc) and those stuff drive the total costs of the item. Although it still doesn't mean that just because they used better parts, none of their PSUs fail (spectacularly) anymore. (a quick google of psu explosion lists quite a few examples.)
