Hi everyone,
I recently built a new Windows 7 64 PC and everything has been fine. I had the machine hooked up to both a monitor (via DVI) and a TV screen(via HDMI). Earlier today i was playing a game on the TV, so i set the machine to display only on the TV screen. At one point I got up to get a drink and when i walked past the TV I managed to step on the HDMI cable connecting the TV and PC. The cable got bent and is now broken, the head of plug part of the cable was completely ripped off. I replaced the cable with a spare HDMI I had, but now nothing will display. I have tried multiple cables and ports on the TV but nothing has worked.
To make matters worse i am unable to switch the display back to the monitor so i can try and fix this issue using the desktop managing software or Catalyst. I restarted the machine completely and it seems to be working as i am getting the windows boot noise through a set of USB speakers and all the lights and fans are working. However i am unable t get any sort of image to display. I tried hitting Windows + P after I heard the start up noise a few times, but that hasn't seemed to do anything.
The graphics card is a AMD Radeon 7870 if that makes any difference.
How do I fix this issue?
Upon further examination it appears that the card is fried. The fan is no longer running on the card.
