desktop wont display to Moniter/TV

Just fixed up an not-so-old Hp pavilion Desktop and everything seems fine. It powers up, fans spin, makes promising noises and all that good stuff. But it doesn't display over to the TV. The port on the Tower is DVI-I but I heard that a dvi-d works fine with it. The cable im using is DVI-D to HDMI and I know its not the cable because its brand-new I just bought it. The sprecs are as follows:
Intel core i5
8gb DDR3 ram
1TB HDD
??? power supply
Integrated Graphics, No card but I am hoping to get one soon
I am using a TV ATM because I don't have access to a proper monitor yet
Any help would be appreciated, I HAVE checked other threads and tried their solutions none of which have worked.

Whats the mobo and does the cpu have integrated graphics, if you're using the onboard video ports?

I highly doubt a pre-built computer would have no graphics card and no integrated graphics.

He's waiting for the GPU and the CPU may have to support integrated gfx if you want to see something

I meant the CPU,. Obviously it has to have something to plug the monitor into
