Go fullscreen to watch the afterburner, I get huge GPU drops
Specifically as in 0:34

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLUhaStgM90

See the drop in GPU usage from 99% to 68% ? It happens in games and gives me huge fps drops. I have tried lowering the settings, using DLSS ( all the modes ) not using ray tracing. Nothing seems to help.
It might be hard to see, but I can really feel it. It happens constantly. Happens in pretty much all games.
I have a pretty decent pc;
I am using the LG CX with Gsync ( have confirmed g sync is working in the games with the top right display )

I also had it before I upgraded my pc, back then I have a b550 mobo, 8 year old PSU ( thought that it was a dying PSU not supplying power correctly anymore ) ryzen 5 3600, and running on a 970 SSD.
None of these upgrades helped, as I have previous videos I also made looking for help.

As can be seen at 0:25
View: https://youtu.be/EPWkdYTAyyQ?t=25

Its happening in all games, BF5, DBD, cyberpunk ect

Fresh windows install and nvidia drivers. Has happened since I got the card on launch, so I dont think its drivers.
Have tried gsync on and off, vsync on and off and combinations of both ( What is the proper setup btw ? )

Could it be the RAM perhaps as thats the only thing I havent upgraded from the 3600 cpu build? I really have no ideas since it was happening before, and everything is completely new now except the ram and its still happening. Even the game installs are fresh. Maybe faulty GPU ?
I have read gsync prefers 117 fps so people limit their fps to 117, could that be why?

Yeah i see a mini pause now and then, that would be annoying.

Not sure what has been suggested you try in the other forums but have you tried adjusting pagefile to a smaller static size rather than having Win10 manage it and often changing it's size even whilst gaming. It's something to try.

I doubt ram speed would cause stutters like that, slower but not a halt, it's more likely a process is pausing somewhere. Hoping editing the PF helps and not that it's Geforce driver orientated or game patch to fix Geforce issues for the moment.

Same dev, different game, can you set RendererWorkerCount or similar involving the amount of cpu cores? Like below. Im wondering too many cores/threads. Could try limiting in task manager > game exe > affinity to find out. Op below answered his own question figuring out about limiting worker count.

This fix makes sense to me because two chiplet Ryzens do take a pretty high latency hit if stuff has to migrate across chiplets:

The other forums got no replies.
Thanks so much for your response. So if I am understanding right, you're saying to set the pagefile to a static 1k / 2k for example?

Its not just COD though, it happens in everything. I can show examples in DBD for example :)
When I had my old build my PC would make a noise like a mouse click, then the game would do it. I thought it was the PSU failing since I had a 3090 maxing out on it, and it was a heavily used PSU for 8 years.
PC no longer makes the clicking noise but still does it, I actually also thought it might be the wifi adapter since it seems so much like lag, but I even replaced that.

I have changed pagefile to 1k/2k ill go play DBD and let you know.

I know you mentioned CP2077 in passing but all the others are online, multiplayer, right? Let's take that out of the equation.

Download and install both HWiNFO64 and Unigine Valley. Run HWiNFO64 in the background (sensors only, logging on) and start up Unigine Valley - it will loop automatically. Let it run for a minimum of 15 mins. Watch the screen for the pauses you see or any other indications of issues (artifacts, etc). After at least 15 mins, stop it and go through the log file and/or upload it somewhere where we can grab it.

Are you monitoring temps? This could readily be throttling if temps are high, bad airflow in case, etc.
Yeah my temps on anything never seem to go over 76c. I have a p500a case, tonnes of room for everything, cable management is good imo ( can see very few cables )

Thanks so much will do that right now.

If its a huge drop in GPU usage do you think it might be the GPU ? Might be worth sending it back and buying a different 3090?

Yes all the others are online multiplayer, but I just downloaded metro enhanced to try it out and within a minute I got a drop to 30% GPU usage and a huge FPS drop.

Edit;
So here is a real quick log of it happening in metro ( Because of the screen changes it was really hard to tell in unigine ) but I will also make a longer video of it happening.

Here is a full match in DBD where it happens a few times.

Here is a full match of DBD, and I stopped the log right after the latest drop hit

Drive temp is a bit high isnt it? Thats my 980 pro, am I reading that right, 80c? I have it under my mobos thermal pad, maybe I should move it to the next slot, as its right under the gpu?
I benchmarked the 980 pro in samsungs software and it says 300k iops but its meant to be 1million isnt it?
https://ibb.co/9swSGcN

Same drive 1 says 61c, other is 80c, google says its flash temp and its normal?

I will move the NVME down a slot and see what temps are like then, moving it from the gpu

edit,
I moved the NVME and temps seem cooler. Still getting the fps drops tho.

This match went for a while, and I didnt get 1 drop

This one I got it as soon as I turned on HWmonitor,

Gen 4 NVMe = :hot:

Found this in the spec data sheet:
Operating temp: 0°C to 70°C(Measured by S.M.A.R.T. Temperature Proper airflow recommended)
Non-operating temp(idle, I guess): -40°C to 85°C

I see in one of the dropbox links: after some time has passed and the system 'warms up', Drive Sensor 2 pretty much sits at 69C.
More than likely it's sitting at 70C, but it's throttling JUST under that.

I moved the nvme to a different slot and it dropped the temps a bit, as seen in the latest ones. Going off of them do you think its still too high?
Its under a metal thing on my motherboard that has thermal pads on it, not sure if a heatsink would fit?

Arent my iops meant to be 1million

Drive sensor 1/Drive sensor 2.
One of these is the NAND flash memory, which, cooler is better.
The other is the Controller, which can run too hot or too cold(yeah, that's a thing with this part). The 40C range is the sweet spot for it, I think..?

Going by Micron specs for NAND flash, Drive sensor 2 should be the memory.

A combo of improving airflow and one of those specialty NVMe heatsink should fix this? IDK, I just happen to see that your drive is thermal throttling.
Others may direct you further.

Hopefully this is better. Im not sure if its hard to see, but I can feel it when im trying to turn.

Happens at 16s

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZ6pwvWKlZk

The strange thing is you can see the fps drop all the time in this video, but its not until the one at 45s that you can really see the stuttering, and I can feel it.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mo0C5cNb8pY

I am not sure if its the nvme temp as I said earlier - it used to run off a different SSD,mobo, cpu and do the same thing.

no ideas?
Thermal throttling: Didn't see anything of note except for the Samsung 980 Pro. Did you resolve the high temperatures?

Voltage throttling: Do you notice any red LEDs lighting up at the PCIe ports on the gpu while in game?

Signal/bandwidth throttling: The TV cable is something that doesn't pop up too often. Perhaps the cable can't do a stable 4K 120hz?

Software throttling: After reinstalling Windows and updating mobo and gpu drivers, you installed certain 3rd party apps that eat up precious cpu cycles, so they do more harm than good. They're basically bloatware.
Driver Booster/Easy
Some LG help center, or something like that
Wallpaper Engine

^That's all I got.

Neither of the 2 videos show anything abnormal from the Afterburner HUD that I can see. Perhaps @TerryLaze or someone else can chime in further on that.

All your cores are running at different clocks and there is like a 1Ghz difference between some of them.
That's perfectly normal and the best way to get the best performance out of your system BUT for games it's not that good if you want smoothness, task manager is always juggling threads around and if a main thread goes from a core at 4.6 to one at 3.6 it's gonna take a moment to rev up to 4.6 again and you will notice that as a stutter.

Oh I see, so what would you suggest? Go into bios and set them all to constant 4.6? Thanks heaps

Thanks for the tips, Ill check for red lights on the gpu now.
I got a new cable like you said and its still doing it.

I actually do use wallpaper engine, ill uninstall it and see.
