Desperate for U.S. monitor engineer

I'm desperate to find a native American monitor engineer from the "good old days" to answer a highly technical Q relating to monitors. I understand most modern ones are from Asia or thereabouts. I need one who speaks English, and who has a "normal" emotional E.Q. as well. Because too many people may speak my language, but yet NOT speak my language.

Since this is an OUT-OF-BOX technical question, concerning the inner-workings of both older and newer monitors, can someone PLEASE direct me to such a person? Preferably a NORMAL person? Please, I'm desperate.

That was my question. Can you please direct me to same? Because nobody else can help me with this Q, believe me, it requires a monitor specialist. I was referred to Toms Hardware by a highly technical person, and spoke with yet another such person. Most techies do not know the nuances of monitor lighting systems. This requires an engineer.

You're calling me racist, but that isn't so, because another techie had told me that modern LCD engineers would not be able to communicate with me, since they're foreigners.

So why is that racist? It's merely practical

If I post the following to you, will you understand it? Hey, if you don't understand it, maybe you are racist:

gedech mooochy rintzzfa.
Get it?? I think that current political correctness has gotten way out of hand. "touchy touchy" reading meanings into things that just aren't there. Ridiculous.

So... getting back to the topic, is there anyone on these forums who's a monitor designer/engineer? Otherwise it's a waste of time posting the Q.

The point about it being racist is that you are making a generlization. I am a foreigner...people don't know I am till I tell them. We seem to communicate just fine. I would be on the same level of racism if I told you that it would be useless to ask an American engineer because they know nothing. See the point now?
This is going to turn into a real pain in the ass now that you don't post the question. I'm trying to help you, and if I can't answer it I know people who will, but before I waste their time, I'll take a crack at it. Are you looking for what types the back lights are, multipliers, amount, distribution, etc.? I'd rather you tell me the question directly rather than my having to narrow down the possibilities and guessing it.

Yea, just post the question! I don't care but I wonder what it is.

I don't think anyone's being racist though. I feel the same way in that I refuse to interact with people who can't speak my language well. No offense or anything but I don't want to deal with it and would rather politely decline their conversation and talk to someone else. Being on tech support with someone from a different culture and language sucks ass. I spend 90% of the conversation just trying to understand what they are saying and trying to figure out why they are not getting what I am asking. This is all just common sense..not racism.

OK, but if I hear once more that I should "go see an eye doctor, since it's 'not a monitor issue'

then I'll quit this thread, because it's getting way too exasperating - I heard it too much from others who were way off base. For one thing, it wouldn't even be an eye issue, rather a neuro issue. For another, I went years ago to an opthamologist who said "you're fidgety, right?" because he knew it's related to an overall nerve issue. Still, what do doctors know about monitors? So please do NOT advise me to go to a doctor - most of them are callously stupid anyway as you'd know if you'd ask millions of patients.

OK, here's the story, since y'all insist:
I'm photosenstive with hyper-reactive nerves. I have heavy metals, and metal toxicity [may be] associated with photosensitivity. I've been on several rounds of chelation, but that's another story.

I came across a site by a programmer who himself was photosensitive to a new LCD, and he had a friend who was photosensitive as well. He said that probably the photosensitivity is due to the flurescent backlighting.

But he also said that an IBM ThinkPad notebook resolved his health problems that he previously experienced with the new LCD.

Problem is, the ThinkPad is way out of the price range I can spend. It's enough I spent $300 on the Samsung that has been electrocuting me.

I'm now working on an old spare CRT from 1991 (or 1989) which isn't causing me nearly the problems the LCD did. But even this is not ideal.

So I need advice from an engineer who knows the inner workings AND LIGHTING SYSTEMS of all types of monitors, new & old, and can advise me based on this. I can't afford anymore guesswork.

It's either that, or I'll soon have to quit computers & the InterNet, because my health is more important. And you cannot imagine the terrible health problems I get. Electrocution is no exaggeration.

BTW, I doubt it's an EMF problem, because I had tried an expensive $300 EMF "protection device" which absolutely failed to help me. It's much more likely a flurescent issue, since, even as a child, flurescents in dept. stores bothered me.

Now, I hope I didn't waste my time by posting this. If anyone responds in a non-understanding way that causes me more pain than I already have, I'm outta here. I cannot tolerate more pain, I tried much too hard already, to get answers - with barely any results.

P.S. I'd like to thank the one guy up there who understood where I'm at. Thank you!

BTW, you who said it's like pulling teeth, and you who keeps calling me racist, ALL of you would bite your tongues, IF you realized the dialogs which have already taken place in my quest to resolve this issue.

I did not word the initial post in a vacuum.

Now, even after this explanatory post, I wonder if you'll get it, or if you're still too dense to get it. Some of the sharpest/quickest techies can be dense by dint of making quick assumptions that are frustrating to the judgEE.

YOU guys are the ones who were too quick to jump to conclusions, based on INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE. Get it? I wonder...

Realistically, onedoesn't need to know very much about LCD's to find the correct one for you, it'd just take a hell of a lot of research and model comparison. An engineer would most likely not know every model and type of backlight used. What I suggest is you go into a store, tell em that you're looking for a very specific type of lcd, and check them out. Generally, if u go to a mall, there will be plenty of selection. Otherwise, check out http://www.monitorsdirect.com, and more specifically http://www.monitorsdirect.com/before/expert/ask_us.shtml. They used to have a VERY competent technicion working for them, went here by the name of GoSharks, but he doesn't seem to be there anymore. Regardless, ask that new guy Nathan Hogan and see what he has to say (dunno how much he knows tho...)

OK, thanks for the suggestion. After some more research though (actually more by serendipity) I've come to realize that there just might be some doctors who aren't ignorant on this matter. Such as Dr. Sheedy & others like him.

OT: I don't know why the administrator (if there is one) of Tom's Hardware allows such maniacal posts as some of the above to pass. Seems there are white-collar Bin Ladens as well as blue-collar ones.

The admin would allow some stuff because just as in real life, u gotta be able to take some sh!t on the internet. I grew up in harlem, and had to take plenty of insults, but in the end everyone at some point in life will have to learn to deal. I suggest you be less sensitive otherwise life won't be as good.

Let's point out the differences children:
Bin Laden: Killed thousands, wrecked an economy, wrecked 2 beautiful buildings and all the property in them, started some serious tensions and racism.

This forum: tried to help your whiny ass out and said lighten up.

See now?

You know what? The fact that you dare to compare your insignificant problems to such a disaster shows what a self centered idiotic prick you are. That's just disgusting and disgraceful.

Get it through your head it is we who are wasting our time to help your lazy ass out. You don't do us any favor, nor are you the only one with problems. 2 hours research would have done wonders but nooo. So IBM laptops don't piss off your condition- call up IBM, ask them specifically what they are using, explain your situation, and then ask which of their LCD's, or perhaps other LCD's are similar to that screen, and finally, grow up.

God I love this thread. This SamsungOUCH fella seems to be competely dillusional. I think I am leaning toward "it's all in your head, check yourself into an institution" remedy.
