I'm going to venture off the beaten path and say Foxconn is doing some good here. China's suicide rate is 13.9 for every 100,000. That means there statistically SHOULD be 111 suicides per year for 800k workers. Seems to me like they've cut that number way down. People will always commit suicide. Wealthy people do, poor people do, well-treated people do, and poorly-treated people do. Sounds to me that among Foxconn workers, the suicide rate is far below the national average.

Love the posts saying boycott Apple and Foxconn products. Do you realize that 99% of motherboards contain some type of Foxconn manufactured parts (AMD/INTEL/APPLE whatever). At one time, Foxconn was the sole supplier of cpu sockets and pci sockets for mother boards as well as other components. Why is that, because they are cheaper than anyone else. They have manufacturing agreements with Apple, Intel, and AMD.

So unless you are going to boycott all the Foxconn product users then it would be moot to just boycott one. With that said I am by no means a Apple fan boy, because to me they sale overprice hardware and proprietary software thats not worth the hassle. But to be fair don't single them out when they are not the only company to use Foxconn.

You people really need to look up socialism and then make a decision, because the last time I checked, Obama has never said he supports the government controlling all means of production. Not once, ever.

Well, if they employ large numbers of employess and its a factory, and rasies are going up, law practices are probably not as enforeced or practiced in the work place, With more money and understanding of knowledge coming in. People are commiting suicide, have contracts not too but yet can talk to a councleur thats probably in a line of 3-10 per one, with the person that you dont care for what in front of you. But you are getting you check with higher wages once your turn is up as the person walks out the door and the counsler says we've only got 10-15mins, when you waited for about 2hrs. Probably have only 6hrs before you have to come into work again. Its Monday. Right when you are trying to get something out or talked with with the councler you gotta go, but just then you realize whats kinda your problem. But on the advise of the counceler has the exorcists start somekind of excorsism on you based on the meeting with the person he/she didnt like. You can't cash your check now but can show to work late the next says the excorists. You dont like showing up late. For any reason. This is whats happening now since they've tried to help employee conditions and relations.

Rather any of this is true, probably not, but still.

Correct, the whole company is 800k while the main factory campus is 300k people. Still a HUGE number mind you!
