Hi everyone

I'm about to throw my PC out the window. :) I was going to install a game and I created a folder to install the game in, however I can't install the game because it tells me that the folder is in "read-only" mode. I went to the properties and uncheck read-only but I still get the same error.

What's bothering me is that when I do file explorer stuff, Windows 10 always asks me to "Confirm this operation" and it has a shield next to continue. It lets me continue so I'm definitely an admin (I'm the only one using this PC). I have turned UAC all the way down, I've added admins and \users to administrative rights. I can't think of anything else.

How do I stop Windows 10 from asking me to confirm everything?! Oh and any input on changing the folder from read-only? I've messed with adding my profile to the security settings on the folder but still nothing.

Solution
This folder is a Windows System folder and is protected under UAC (User Access Control), to prevent rogue programs, malware and viruses from doing bad things behind your back. You should not store any data in system folders. You now have two options:

Store your data elsewhere (recommended)
Temporarily turn off UAC (not recommended)

just make a folder called Origin on the root of C and it won't have this problem. Windows just being overly protective of folders other (system) users also use.
what is location you are trying to create folder in?

Every folder in windows 10 is read only, it shouldn't matter though as you are admin and can access them. There are some locations you don't control, like ones run by the System user or Trustedinstaller. IT works this way so that windows keeps working and doing its job.

Location is C:\program files (x86)\ I created a folder called Origin and went to install a game from the Origin client. It asked me where I want to install the game, so I selected my C:\ (it's my SSD) and I navigated to C:\program files (x86)\origin and it told me that it can't install the game there because the folder is read only.

I went to the security of the folder and I attempted to give permissions to ALL groups to allow full control and whenever I hit "apply" the changes I made revert back to how they were before I made the changes.

The other issue, do you know if there is a setting that will tell Windows to stop asking me to "confirm" my changes?
