Detachable headset MIC not working

I am currently using a RIG 400hs headset (which has a detachable mic) and I have attempted to fix this problem but my laptop doesn't seem to have recognised the microphone. I have tried going into the audio devices but i couldn't find it, i am very confused and don't know what to do. Also it works on other devices like: consoles, android's, IOS and 3ds/ds. Maybe my laptop isn't compatible?

Are you certain that the 3.5mm port you are plugging into is dual, input/output? If it isn't and it is only output then the mic won't work through it.

If the 3.5mm port is the problem, then the only solutions are to try and have it replaced (if possible, which it may not be) with a true dual port. Or you can take the cheaper, and less work to do, option of getting a 3.5mm to USB adapter and connection through that, which should eliminate the problem.

yes it is a dual input/output it has worked with other headsets that has had i microphone attached but the other ones weren't detachable

I can't answer on that one then. Unless there is something else involved.


Anyone else have any suggestions?
