Hi

I've got a USB device disconnecting and reconnecting (I can tell because of the sound it makes). I've got a lot of devices plugged in and I've checked all the sockets.

How can I tell what device it is?

Device manager/USB device viewer isn't helping much (just refreshes when it happens). Windows event viewer isn't pointing it out either.
I need something to clearly show what device is being disconnected/reconnected, any suggestions please?

Thx

maybe a driver issue ?

You forgot to mention what changes, either software or hardware - made to that computer was done before the issue began. You also forgot to mention hardware speccs, in this settings all of usb devices and usb hubs that are used is of interrest. But also the rest of the system, i.e. a mobo may have issues providing enough usb power to your equipment.

It's recently got updated to Windows 11.
It could very well be a driver issue, or a cable, or something else.

My issue is I need to locate the hardware/driver (although all my drivers are up to date) that's going up and down. I need some method off logging devices that get connected and disconnected.

(BTW I have another thread in another sub forum, this is an entirely separate issue on an entirely different machine in case anybody wonders).

did you try this? it can see unconnected devices as well

can set it to show a message on device Disconnection so that might help

some of these might help - https://www.makeuseof.com/how-to-fix-usb-device-disconnecting-reconnecting-windows-10/

Thanks.

The issue is I can't find the device in question that is turning on and off. Windows event viewer isn't helping either. Once I know what device it is I could do something about it!

I've already used USBView and it hasn't helped. Thx.

I figured that setting would show what disconnected regardless of you not knowing which it is,

you probably want USBLogview.

USBLogView is a small utility that runs in the background and records the details of any USB device that is plugged or unplugged into your system. For every log line created by USBLogView, the following information is displayed: Event Type (Plug/Unplug), Event Time, Device Name, Description, Device Type, Drive Letter (For storage devices), Serial Number (Only for some types of devices), Vendor ID, Product ID, Vendor Name, Product Name, and more.

Refer the second answer here - https://superuser.com/questions/109...s-on-recent-usb-insertion-in-the-event-viewer
