I recently upgraded from 44.?? to 53.03 Detonator drivers for my Abit Siluro Ti4200. I started getting serious artifacts in 3d games. It looked as if the card was too highly overclocked. Has anyone else had this problem?

I did a complete uninstall of the previous drivers, but didn't do a Detonator RIP. I'm starting to get annoyed with the framerates of the card at 1280. I think I'll upgrade when the next gen comes out this spring.

I got problems, but not artifacts. For me it consisted of both Call of Duty and Wolf Enemy Territory crashing about 5 seconds after I had joined a game, leaving me no choice but to restart.

Hey jp5, I've got a siluro also (OTES 64mb). What games you have fps issues with?

Can't help with drivers since I've stayed with 44 series (I'm using the drivers that came out in May '03) Seemed to me the newer detonators are "junked up" with instruction sets to get the FX to work better.

Have you tried OCing the card? If so how did she do?
Thanks

OK, the problem goes away when I stop overclocking my 2.4C. I am not sure how overclocking the CPU is giving me artifacts. I have the pci and agb buses locked at 33/66. Any ideas?

Any games seems to get artifacts: Vice City, Rise of Nations... The artifacts do look like the sort that are caused by overclocking the video card too high.

Hmm, interesting...I've had no problems with my Ti4200 and the 53.03 driver set...I'm overclocked on both my CPU and my GPU...all my benchmark scores went up significantly with the 53.03's.

I did some google research. It seems like people were having this problem with the Asus 865 boards. I found no mention of the Abit boards. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to upgrade to Prescott on Monday. I hear it runs 50% faster than 3.2EE and 20 deg cooler.

I was just kidding. I think I'll wait until summer/fall when DDR2, BTX, and PCI-X are all implemented.

With 53.03, my XFX Ti4200 is fine... and I am overclocking my 1700+ to 1852 with a 195fsb... cheap esc board...
