Alright so, 2 years ago I got this PC(notebook) an HP pavilion dv6-6000 with an amd radeon 6650m HD installed however, not so long ago (about 3-4months) when I tried to update my graphics card somehow it showed that I have an amd mobility radeon 4250 HD but I installed the driver for the 6650m one but the 4250 appeared on device manager. (And no when I got the pc it was written on it that it has the 6650m gpu)
I thought it might as well be a bug and ignored it since it still showed my primary gpu is 6650m but the 4250 was in the device manager for no reason but, here is when the worse part starts. Ever since I installed the driver update for the 6650m I kept on getting crashes in games such as bf3 and thought it was a dx11 error but it wasn't since I've tried everything, reinstalling the game and such but it still kept crashing and showing display driver crashed so that's when I got more concerned about the "bug" showing in the device manager and tried to rollback the driver but it still showed then I tried re-updating but then I reached the point that I wasn't even sure what I was exactly doing and when I pressed the screen resolution button and went to advanced settings it showed up the 4250 radeon gpu which I dont even have and created issues that weren't there in the first place.
After that I've decided to reinstall windows see if the issue is gone and it was! but not for long... Mistakenly somehow windows update downloaded an update for the driver and after that it again showed on device manager the 4250 radeon gpu and then I decided to get driversweeper and remove everything and then try and update it from scratch, yet it did remove all the gpu's showing in device manager but the problem was when it searched for new hardware it showed 2 Vga graphics or whatever it was but I knew it was for 2 graphics card so I decided to download the latest version and even the manufacturer's version of the 6650m HD but with no avail, it was installed but my pc was unable to recognize it as whenever I turned it on it would show I have a "Default monitor/VgaSave" graphics so I went to device manager and pressed update driver automatically to search the internet and then returned to point A...
I now have 2 graphics card as device manager shows, an amd radeon 6650m and a 4250 radeon HD and I've tried everything from reinstalling windows to driver sweeping to updating to latest drivers etc... So does anyone have a solution for me to be able to remove the 4250 radeon HD and let my pc recognize the radeon 6650m as my main graphics card so I may be able to enjoy games again on my PC? I'd be thankful for a solution
