I have a HP Pavilion 14 laptop with an AMD RADEON HD 8670m GPU. At the first place, the GPU did not show up in the device manager. I thought it has a faulty driver. So I used DDU to remove that. Then I tried to install a new driver but it said it couldn't detect any AMD Hardware. There wasn't any extra GPU under the Display Adapter option other than the internal one (Intel). Then after a while an unknown device named Video Controller showed up underneath Other Devices ( Image 1 ). I updated the driver and it installed under the Display Adapter showing a wrong graphics card ( Image 2 ). Then I again uninstalled and it went back under the Other Devices. Repeated the process and now it shows another wrong GPU ( Image 3 ). Still I somehow managed to install the driver but that's pointless cuz the driver belongs to the 8670m ( Image 4 & 5 ). Can anyone help?

Specs:
  • Windows 10 Pro
  • Intel Core i7 -4702MQ CPU 2.20 GHz
  • 1TB HDD
  • 8GB RAM
  • AMD RADEON HD 8670m

Solution
Image 3 (Device Manager 3) shows "AMD Radeon HD 8600M Series"

This is correct since the 8600M Series includes the 8670M model (think about it)

If your Device Manager is still showing same as your Image 3 screenshot, that's fine.

Please be aware that only HP has the correct drivers for your laptop model.
Do not download them from device manufacturer or anywhere else.

Thanks a lot! Can you tell me where to find the driver for the GPU ?

(1) Please post exact model number of laptop -- there are several HP Pavilion 14 models. Look underneath for a sticker showing full model number.

(2) Did this laptop come with Windows 10 preinstalled, or some other version?

(3) In which country was this laptop purchased?

Please answer all three questions!

(1) Model Number: HP Pavilion 14-E036TX Notebook PC
(2) It came with Windows 8 which was later updated to 8.1 and the Windows 10.
(3) The laptop was purchased in Bangladesh

"When I use the laptop for over 1 or 2 hours, the Firepro one comes back"

That's the first time you've mentioned FirePro GPU to me (you didn't include "Device Manager 4" screenshot until yesterday).

I honestly don't know what's going on here, except that FirePro is definitely wrong for your laptop as that GPU was designed for workstations and servers.

Uninstall FirePro driver, then try installing the AMD High Definition Graphics Driver from the HP drivers page in my previous post.
