Hey Vivek. I'm sorry you are experiencing issues with your drive. Would you please open Disk Management and post a screenshot of what you see there about the drive and the partition (here's how to access it: How to access Disk Management in Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8 to manage hard drives).
I'd also suggest that you try the drive with a different USB cable (not longer than 12") and a different computer to see if the same thing happens.
For data recovery you have several options:
1. Try accessing the drive via Linux Live USB/CD to see if you can get your files
2. Data recovery software, you could try some of the options listed in this thread here: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html
3. A professional solution such as a data recovery company. Here's a link to our data recovery partners: WD Data Recovery Partners
I'd also recommend that you download DLG (Data Lifeguard Diagnostic) to run both tests (Quick and Extended) to see if there are any issues with the drive itself: Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows, but you should try that only after you've recovered your data.
Hope that helps. Let me know how everything goes.
