Device to activate/terminate an HDMI signal

Is there a device out there that can turn an hdmi signal on and off with the push of a button?

I have my TV connected with a Chromecast and also to my TV. Problem is, I only want the TV to receive input from my computer when I'm wanting to use it. My TV detects HDMI input and automatically switches inputs when it detects an input signal goes from off to on.

What I would like is to be able to press a button and have my TV automatically switch inputs when it receives an HDMI signal from me turning on the device.

Any ideas?

I've read multiple threads that say HDMI switches are "iffy" at best and many times can't push a signal more than a foot or so from the device. Is this true? Originally, my TV was going to be much farther from my PC than it is now, so my plans have changed a little, meaning it might work, regardless.
