i recently upgraded my home network from only 1 router and then adding 2 APs. my old router has 5G wifi and APs does not, so i still intended to use router's wifi. the problem is my phone and laptop is automatically connected to my AP rather than my router's wifi even when i standing next to the router and the nearest AP is 2 stories away, i already tried to set AP's power to minimum but it doesnt work.

That won't generally happen with home network hardware. The device determines what it will connect with not the network hardware. As long as the signal is not completely unusable, the device will keep it rather than switch. Seamless roaming with home network equipment is generally nothing but frustrating.

yeah that woulnt do, i wanted to be seamlessly connected all the time without changing my wifi connection tho

Oh well, I didn't know you ordered Dom Perignon. 😀

Yeah, as ^he says, that kind of WIFI seamless roaming can only be obtained with business-class routers. U got the dough, check out Ubiquiti, and Cisco.

The new mesh WIFI may do something similar but I have zero experience.
