Well, I finally got Delta Force: Extreme.

It's interesting to play some of the old missions with the newer A.I. and
objects.

I recognize some of the missions, but some of them I don't.

There are some complaints carried over from Joint Operations.

1) Players riding on the skids of the Little Birds and firing 40mm 'nades
and AT-4's.

2) No Stingers to shoot down helos, and there is no M60, so you're left
with the SAW or a well-positioned M2 .50 sitting on one of the buggies to
shoot them down with.

One of the new complaints is that when bullets reach a max range, they all
of a sudden become ineffective. 1 meter inside that effective range and you
can kill them. 1 meter outside and you can't touch them. The ranges have
been significantly reduced on some of the weapons and I don't think you can
adjust your elevation.

Still, I'm having fun with it.

It's nice to have some single-player to go with the J.O. engine, but for
multi-player you might want to stick with J.O.:Escalation.

Is there any game out there with fully realistic ballistics?

It would be great to have to hold under or over and to have to allow for
wind direction and strength.

There was a realist Army sniper trainer game, but you were only shooting at
a paper target.

AFAIK ballistic trajectories are included in OFP but I don't know how
faithful they are to the real thing esp because the AKs seem way to
accurate at distances over 200m.

VBS1 allegedly includes wind effects on the ballistic trajectory as well
but again I can't say how realistically

Well, the accuracy of the AK's is because of the low dispersion on the
default weapons, just as default OFP pistols can be used to snipe at long
ranges.

The length or shortness of the sight rail doesn't seem to factor into the
dispersion of the default weapons.

I guess that if they made shooting accurately over >150m as hard as it is
really, there would be very little interest in the games.

Shame you cant set it up though, for the realism.

What would really freak out the mass playing majority would be to have
bullets totally diappear without ever apparently hitting anything.
I never had this happen but they reckon some of the higher speed rounds can
just fragment on something as flimsy as a blade of grass.

Boy, I'm so glad to hear this from someone else's "mouth" for a change...

Hitting those 300 meter targets using iron sights, even in prone supported,
wasn't easy.

If I ever go into combat, I want a red dot sight, preferably one with a
little magnification, at least.
