intel said the DG33BU will support the Q9650.Well, technically, that's true...but not at full speed.I put that CPU in the DG33BU, and it shows 3 ghz in the 'computer' properties, but when tested, it only runs at 1.999 Ghz, well below 3.BIOS is 0293, I've read that BIOS update 0484 will allow the BIOS/motherboard to properly recognize the CPU, and that will solce the problem. So, has anyone come across this issue, is that correct, any other way to fix the problem?Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also, on this board, you can put in 8 gigs of RAM, I did, DDR2, 800 mhz...and it ran slow as anything.I removed 4 gigs(2 sticks), left two sticks in...and it ran a ton faster! Is this intels idea of a joke, or is this something to do with the CPU issue? Thanks again.

Solution
If it says that the 9650 is supported from bios 484, then that is the specific information that it will work from that bios onwards.

Going from the original 6600's to 9650's there was a die shrink and the create of 1/2 multipliers, and bioses were needed to be updated to account for it.

Hi, I saw my question from different post, but I didn't see a reply?

I officially thank all 13 monkeys in advance.I didn't find anything specific as to whether or not the the BIOS update will allow the 9650 to be correctly recognized, but it did have 0484 listed for that CPU, so I'll update, hopefully it will solve the problem.Any suggestions as to best way to update, they offer an automatic update, would probably use that one, just have to have a backup ready in case there's an issue.Have you seen situations where a BIOS update allows a CPU to be fully used where the original BIOS was the issue? Thanks again.

Looks like that will work, updating the BIOS, and thanks again for the help!
