Hey all, recently got a secondhand pc, planning on building a cheap semi-gaming rig.
I did some research, and got some RAM that was recommended as current good stuff, specifically Kingston HyperX Fury 2x4GB memory kit. (with the cool blue cases).
It didn't work. computer booted for about 12 seconds and then died and repeat.
Googling the problem, I saw some people saying the board does not support "high-density single sided" ram (or something similar, i forget the specifics) which the HyperX ram apparantly is (not that the packaging has anything to say about this one way or another.). I have looked online, and the only information on the Intel page for the motherboard is "> Four 240-pin DDR3 SDRAM Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) sockets > Support for DDR3 1333 / 1066 MHz DIMMs".
It has been a while since i tried to build something, so idk what any of that is.
This brings me to my question:
Is the previous answer i found, where the type of ram is literally incompatible correct?
If so, what sort of ram is compatible and currently on the market?
And finally, how do you tell on the ram packaging what chipset/sort/type/whatever it is?
Oh, and if it is compatable with the motherboard, what would i need to do to get it working?
Thanks much,
Sam
