I've decided to reinstall D2🙂LoD). I'd rather join some AGWWers on
b.net, rather than wander around with l33t people. So, if anyone's up
for company, I'm taking 'suggestions' on what Realm I should be making
my character on...?

My account name was Miedvied. I think. Or DrJamesStein. I'll post it as
soon as I find out what Realm I'll be on.

U.S. East. That's where I am. I typically play open battle.net, so I
can use my solo characters, but if you prefer Realm play I can create a
new one.

What kind of character do you plan to make? My favorites are paladins
and combat druids, so I am usually good support crew.

So it looks like James and I will be playing Diablo. Anybody interested
in joining?

SP/Open I usually go with a curse/golem necro. Realm I tend to go with
an assassin or barbarian, since it's hard to go with
hang-back-and-be-slow styles when people are running ahead as fast as
possible.

So, I'm thinking Amazon, just to break my usual habits.

Are necromancers viable again? I used to really like them, but the
nerfs to Revive and Corpse Explosion made them hard to use in Hell or
Nightmare.

Amazons are fun. Were you thinking bow or spear?

Nope, still useless. But in SP I'd be willing to take the effort. After
all, I don't play SP without the 8-Player hack in effect, anyway. I'm
used to taking everything painfully slow and careful.

You realize, of course, that you no longer need a hack? You can just
type "/players 8" and you are good to hook.

Pally or werebear for me, then.

Yeah, it's miedvied, on USeast.

I'm certainly interested, however, my schedule is a bit hectic at the
moment since I'm in the middle of exams. And I still have to find a
summer job. So I hesitate to commit, but I'll certainly raise the
subject again when I have the time to seriously play.

Hmm. Useless?

I have a level 65 or 66 skelemancer on USWest who might disagree with
you. I've done solo and multiplayer with him up to (but not to the end
of) Act V NM. It kills as fast as any other build, but with less effort.

He's a better man than I, then.

I have a 60-something Skelemancer:

Maxed Raise Skeleton
Maxed Skeleton Mastery
One point in every curse.
One point in Corpse Explosion.
Some revives, some skeleton mages

It's a fast and viable killer all the way through nightmare, and
probably Hell too. Corpse explosion works nicely when dealing with packs
of monsters that are slow to die.

I might, depending upon times.

Hm, I've just started playing D2 again as well - except using a mod a friend
pointed me to - Nezeramontias. Basically, it makes it harder in various
ways - the gold you get for selling stuff is a fraction of what it was, the
resistance penalties for normal/nightmare/hell are -10/-125/-250, all the
monsters are higher damage/hp/armour/attack rating, they move twice as fast,
that sort of thing. Also, gaining a skill level costs (its level in the
skill tree) in skill points initially, and for every 5 levels in the skill
you gain, its cost increases by 1. (For example, Blessed Aim is a tier 3
skill, so it costs 3 points for skill levels 1-5, 4 points for 6-10 and so
on)

I'm quite enjoying it so far - though I'm level 19 and still in the
Monastery Barracks 🙂

It's not difficult to revert to normal D2, though, so I could be up for some
b.net play. (I'm not particularly experienced at b.net D2, though) We
might have some time difference issues, though 🙂

Cheers,
Grant

Mostly just when we're playing. But it was early and I couldn't sleep,
so I went waypoint hunting.

I definately am. 'Course, I just started playing Diablo II for the first
time ever within the last couple of months, so I'm still learning. Have
a decent Sorceress, though.
