Actually in the classes pages there is concept art for a Female Barbarian on the Barb page and a male Wizard on the wiz page...interesting.

Um why do you assume that? In D2x, assassin = female, druid = male
Even in D2, mage = female, warrior = male

I'm pretty sure it's safe to say yes, for each class there will be a male/female version. I think I've read that question quite a few months ago on Blizzard's forum that there will be for each class.

The original gameplay video that diablo fans came all over has extra characters pop up later to show off the multiplayer that look like a female shaman and barbarian.

By the time this games come out, I won't care anymore. Besides, while we're waiting, half a dozen clones will be released, and at least one of them will be better than Diablo III.

I would actually assume the opposite. They specify "female monk". Why not just "monk"? And, if so, why, in 2010 (2012 when it comes out), can't I choose the sex of my character myself?

I think it could be assumed because there is a known MALE monk for D3 too

Hmm, well we are talking Blizzard, just like WoW took a page from DII and Skill Trees.

Female and male of each class was known when D3 was officially first announced. The video showed both female and male versions of the Witch Doctor and Barb.

This. They said in their gameplay video there would be male/female versions of EVERY class.

This is not news. It was official since the Monk CLASS was announced.
