Diagnose Monitor Problem Please

Gets darker and brighter in flashes and slowly sometimes

I have to strike the side of the monitor to regain its contrast and brightness if it does not fix its self. Some tiems that resultsin everything losing redness or being very green. I took the case off of the back of the monitor and it seemed to work fine then. There are no strange noises coming from the monitor and no high-pitched whines. There is not much heat radiating from the exhaust holes. Therefore I do not belive that it is over heating.

Is it possible that the fuse is degraded after the years of use and is restricting power?

if striking the monitor fixes the problem I would be looking at possible dry joints on the circuit board.

Get your soldering iron out and go beserk.

Oy... I release the tention on the screws because the case was pressing on the back of the picture tube. That helped a lot, but still the problem. I'll look into the "joints" thing.

673/603 It sounds like the big connection on the back of the neck might be the problem. You know, the connectors for the guns.

I can wiggle that around and it will affect nothing on the display. HMMMMM...

I thits its just time for this!
